As of Windows XP operating systems, the ACM Search page uses the Microsoft Windows Search 4.0 service for indexing and searching your site's content. You must install and configure the Windows Search 4.0 service prior to creating an ACM Search page that uses the service.
To install the Windows Search 4.0 service:
Open the Microsoft support document at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940157. This document contains download links for different operating system versions. Download the version that corresponds with your operating system (links are towards the bottom of the document) and run the Windows Search setup.
Once the installation is finished, go to Start > Control Panel > Indexing Options. This is the main configuration tool for Windows Search.
The screen shows list of locations included in indexing by default. Click Modify to remove all locations except the Sites folder for the ACM installation. To remove a location, simply uncheck the checkbox.
Note: The ACM's Search page requires indexing of the Sites folder. Run an ACM Export of the site to generate search files.
Do not make changes to the Advanced settings.
You can force an initial indexing by going to the Context menu of the Windows Search icon found in the System Tray. If you do not force an Index Now, the service indexes files only when server resources are available.
