Troubleshooting Google Map pages

Common problems with the Google Map page are resolved below:

Center point does not show the Info Message

In order for the center point of your map to automatically display an information message, you must do two things. 1) you must enter the text for the message in the Info Message box and 2) you must be sure to check the Show Message box located below the message text box.

Center point has Info Message but no Marker

You must create a center point marker if you wish to have one there. The center point simply positions the map with your center point visually in the middle of the published map and provides a spot over which the automatic  Info Message is displayed. But if for example this is your head office and you want users to be able to refer to this point, you must manually add a center point marker in the Map Points section. Just Add a map point and enter the Latitude and Longitude as shown in the Center fields in the Google Map Configuration section.

Letter points not displayed when selected

If you select Letter Points and you are not using categories but you have checked some of the category fields, your letters will not be displayed on the published page.

Edit the page and check to see if you have checked the Include Category Selector (Google Map Configuration section) and the Include Categories in the Legend section. You must uncheck these two fields in order for the letters to be displayed.

Legend not displayed when selected

As with Letter Points, if you check the Include Category Selector field (Configuration section) or you check the Include Category checkbox (Legend Settings), but you do not actually have any categories entered in the Map Categories section, the Legend will not be displayed. Uncheck all of the category-related checkboxes and re-publish the page.

Info message for map points is blank - no text shows

When users double-click a map point marker, a bubble is displayed. You can enter information to display here. Edit the Google Map page and in the Map Points section, double click the Name of the point. The Map Points Editor is displayed. You can enter information in the Description field. This information will be displayed in the bubble. Make sure to insert line breaks </br> to keep lines from getting to long. Without the breaks you can end up with a map point bubble that is very wide with one long sentence in it!
